It had been a long time since Emily had done anything other than dancing as far as physical activity went. She hadn't hunted since she'd met Oliver, solely because she'd run away from home and there was no reason to work on her fighting skills when she wasn't going to be using them. After seeing how easy it was to take down Gale though, she realized it was time she taught the pink haired girl how to defend herself, should the need arise. Being an excellent archer did nothing if she was attacked on close range.
Looking at Finnley, she chuckled slightly at his question. "It would be difficult, but not impossible. I've been training for it since I was a little girl because that's what made my father happy, Gale was taught to shoot a bow as that was something that made her parents happy. We can teach you how to defend yourself, if you really want." Looking into the bag for a moment, she pulled out a silver knife and threw it at Gale, grinning when she caught it midair and threw it so it landed right in front of Emily's feet, leaving only an inch of grass between where the knife was now sticking out of the grass and the superhuman's shoe.
Gale turned to Finnley and smiled slightly, glad that Emily hadn't really hurt her earlier as she had been a bit worried about that. "So, wood for vampires, silver for werewolves." she said before she walked over and pulled the knife out of the ground, wiping the dirt off on her hands before putting the knife back into the bag.

Finley wasn't sure about reading that Emily had been subjected to training like this for the longest time. Something in him just couldn't let it sit right with him as he watched them still. His eyes couldn't help to look a bit sad in this moment, his words oddly soft as if his perspective was being changed again. "My parents just wanted me to hear like everyone else, I don't even want ta know what it be like if this hunter stuff was thrown in. You ladies have got to be something' ta put up with it." He watched Gale reach into the bag, looking at her a little confused before nearly jumping out of his skin with a shout as she just threw a silver knife like that. He almost fell over after standing up, eyes a bit wide before looking to Gale to see her say something about wood for vampires and silver for werewolves. "Did ya have to go throw the blade like that?! You could have actually hurt her! What have I gotten myself into." He was shouting for a moment in his bit of panic, but ended up just sitting back down with a sigh before laying back on the ground.this all just turning into madness to him.

Emily shook her head at the statement of training. "Didn't have much of a choice. It was either training or torture because of my gifts, most of the time it was both," she said casually. It had been a secret for so long, but after Oliver had found her all bruised up and taken her in, she didn't care if people knew the truth anymore. It wasn't like they'd be able to find her dad and confront him about it and she'd gotten out with her life intact so it wasn't a big deal anymore.
It was highly amusing to see Finnley's reaction to the knife throwing. They were both trained for this, they knew they could trust one another despite the fact that they'd both been hunters and as it turned out they were both supernatural now as well. Moving over the where they'd been sitting before, both girls sat down again, waiting for Finnley to get back up so he could see them talking again. Neither girl wanted to get in his way or anything until he was calm again.

Finnley sat up, still seeming a bit edgy now after how they could just throw blades around like they do. He knew it wasn't too much different then when he fought in a kickboxing competition, but he still couldn't shake how scary it was to see knifes thrown like that. He ran a hand through his hair, distracting himself in the fact that he needed to bleach it again. He looked at the girls and noticed how amused they looked for some reason, not sure why they would be but drew it down to how he reacted to the knife. He huffed at them before seeming to get back on topic, starting with bringing up what defensive training he already had. "Well I don't have any training like you girls, but I got somethin'. I've been in kickboxing since I was 12, got an idea how that can be applied to all this mess?"

Years and years of training hadn't prepared either of the girls for life once they stopped hunting. Between the two of them, they could track down and kill pretty much anything, but they didn't know how to take care of themselves. Neither of them knew how to cook, not that Gale needed to know anymore, they were usually awkward when making new friends and they still had trouble getting along with other supernaturals. It was a good thing they had each other to ask questions about ordinary things so they could figure them out together.
"Well, that's a good start. You know how to stand your own in a fight then I take it. It's mostly about not being scared or running in the opposite direction. Vampires as well as some werewolves are predators, if they know you're scared, it will only encourage them. We'll work on working what you already know into some of what we know." Emily wasn't trying to offend Gale, but it seemed the vampire didn't take offense by the way she was simply nodding slightly at the fact.
"I can't help you with the self defense part of all this, I never was any good at actual fighting. My weapon of choice was always my bow. The knife thing is relatively new to me, but my new reflexes helps a lot with that." Maybe they were both a little overly excited about this whole thing, but it was their first attempt at teaching what they knew to others, just because they couldn't or didn't want to hunt, didn't mean they didn't think that Finnley deserved to be prepared so him and his family wasn't put in danger if it could be avoided.

Finnley watched them carefully, not minding much of what they were saying as he mostly focused on what their lips read. He gave s bit of a smile that his kickboxing could be worked into all this madness somehow, though was a bit stunned Gale wasn't much of a fighter. He looked to the vampire after nodding in understanding to Emily. "well we can almost make a trade then. You ladies teach me how to stop all these supernatural from hurting me or my mum, and I can show you a bit of kickboxing. I know being a vampire there's not much point but it still be good. Not sure how I could repay you though Emily." He looked back to said superhuman then, his pronunciation of her name a bit off but he couldn't really help it with being unable to hear.

Emily had to work to figure out how she should work his kickboxing into hunter training. Sure, she'd been able to work her hunter training into dancing, but this would be slightly different. He'd need to be able to use a stake with precision if he wanted to keep his mother and himself safe. It wouldn't be the most difficult thing in the world, which was good. It didn't matter if they had to work on converting things, it would be worth it if he was safe.
Looking up at what he had to say, Gale smile slightly. "There's always a point to learn to defend oneself, we fight amongst ourselves as well from time to time," she said with a chuckle. She was glad though, glad that Finnley seemed eager to learn and that he was coping with everything far better than he had when he'd first learned of their existence. It hadn't been a fair way to learn that his view on everything in life had been wrong, but it was the only way to make him believe her.
Emily shook her head at what he could do to repay her for helping him. "I have everything I need. I'm finally free, and I'm happy, I don't need anything more than that." It was true though, Oliver had helped her find her freedom, and he'd helped her fight to keep it. Now she was just floating on a cloud of happiness really, as nothing else mattered at the moment. No one would ever force her to kill anyone again, and if she did end up killing someone, it would be in self defense this time.

Finnley gave a bit of a smile, seeming to calm down for the time being. He wanted to learn how all this worked and if what fighting he did know could save him skin or his mother's from one of the things that go bump in the night. He moved over to the bag then, looking in and seeing what all was inside. He picked up one of the knives for himself then, feeling the weight before getting to his feet. "So think one of ya can show me where to start with this?" He wasn't one to throw objects, so he just held it a bit tight. His own training kicked in as he took a rather normal stance for kick boxing. He looked a little tense about it, but he wasn't sure how to do much with a knife of any other weapon in his hand. He was used to being the weapon, not needing one.

They would have to work together all three of them to turn Finnley into a decent fighter as far as the supernatural went. That was for sure. Gale would have to play the part of both vampire and werewolf, she would have to just be a guide. "Don't worry, I'll show you how to use those things," Emily said with a chuckle before she stepped closer to the human. "Don't freak out," she said as she gently reached out for his hand and tried to loosen his grip on the knife.
"Don't grip it so tightly, you have to let go at some point anyway," she said before she picked up a knife of her own and showed him how to hold the knife, before she flicked her wrist and released the knife, throwing it straight at the tree.

Finnley could only nod at the comment of showing him how to work with all this stuff, the human rather wary of things. He couldn't help to visibly stiffen as Emily reached out for his hand, but he calmed down to loosen his grip on the knife some. he looked a little confused at reading her lips saying that he was going to have to let go of the knife at one point, not quite getting it until she threw the one she had picked up. He looked a little worried over this, starting to take a slight change in stance. He looked where she threw her knife, eyes not even looking at the girls anymore. Blue eyes looked to narrow for a moment before he tried to mimic what Emily did, the movement very awkward for him for some reason. the knife flew through the air, hitting the tree more toward the roots. Finnley couldn't help to sigh as if he had completely failed, shoulders even slumping for a moment. "I'm not much of a weapons person. More used to being the weapon, not usin them." He looked to Emily and Gale then, not too sure this knife throwing deal was going to go all that well.

Gale was watching Emily try to show Finnley how to throw the knife, though it was obvious from how he was holding the knife in the first place that throwing knives wasn't for him. It had been worth a shot anyway though as it was a skill that could be transferred to anything really. Now all that was needed was to find something else he could do instead. So while Emily retrieved the knives thrown, the vampiress went back into the back and pulled out a different kind of knife, one not meant for throwing.
Turning to Finnley, she smiled slightly at the human. "Then we'll work with this one and a stake instead. Make the weapons feel like an extension of yourself rather than a weapon to be thrown at an attacker. The knife is coated in silver, so it's perfect if you're ever attacked by a werewolf." Their goal wasn't to teach the human to become a hunter, it was to teach him to be able to defend himself and his lovely mother and both of the girls needed to remember that and not try to change the boy into something he wasn't.
"It takes time and practice to be a hunter, but I don't want to turn you into a killer, all I want is for you to be able to defend yourself."

Finnley watched Emily move to collect the knives out of the tree. He was actually going to go back to looking through the bag again when Gale stepped in front of him with a different kind of knife. He watched her lips carefully, taking in all that she was saying. This method seemed to click in his head better than the knife throwing as he took the blade in his hand. His grip on it was strong but not awkward, making him back up and take a bit more of an offensive stance. He threw a few hits at air, making sure the blade was held in a way that would stab when hits landed. His movements seemed far more natural now, unable to help with smiling when he stopped. "This I can do, still feels a bit weird, but I can handle it." He couldn't help to give one of his goofy and bright smiles then, feeling he had done something right with this defense stuff.

It was a good thing that Gale had the good sense to give Finnley something he could work with rather than trying to change the way he knew how to defend himself to begin with. It was best to find something he could easily pick up as it made it easier for him to gain confidence enough to feel safe around town. It was never a good thing to just dump the supernatural world on humans, but at the very least he had two former hunters looking out for him.
Emily watched as he made a few stabs at the air, confident that he'd get it in no time at all. "Then this is what we'll work with," she said with a smile. Looking at her watch though, she realized she needed to get going soon. She had some work to do as well as she had to find someone for a client. "I'm going to let you practice with Gale for now, I need to get to work," she said as she stepped aside and turned to leave.
Gale stepped right in where Emily left off, knowing she wasn't as good at fighting as the redhead, but not willing to try to stop the other from leaving either. "Do you want to keep practicing, or would you prefer to work on getting used to the weapons on your own first?" she asked.

Finnley relaxed some, unable to help with grinning at Emily and what she had said. He tried it a few more times, almost gaining a liking for the feel of the blade in his hand before he realized Emily was leaving. he frowned at seeing her have to go but none the less gave her a wave goodbye. He was hoping she would still be willing to teach him this defensive deal but was distracted by Gale and noticing she was talking. He only really caught onto the end of what she was saying, but he had a pretty good idea what the first part of her words could have been. "I think I want to get used to them on my own. I don't want a little kid coming out here while I'm testing this out. Me basement is a bit better for hiding this stuff anyhow." he really needed to get a move on to, knowing his mother would be expecting him home soon. He could be such a mama's boy at times, but he really didn't seem to care.

Gale was sad to see Emily go, but she understood that the superhuman had work to do, she had bills to pay after all. Gale just had to stay out of trouble and get herself back in school and she would get by on her own somehow. She could always just compel her way through life, but that was neither fair not did it leave her feeling like she'd accomplished something.
Pulling out her phone at Finnley's answer to her question, she forwarded Emily's number to the human before she put her phone away again and looked at the human for a moment. "If you need any help, don't hesitate to let either of us know, ok? Emily has promised to help out, so feel free to contact her whenever."
