outfitValerie had been sent to Bitter Springs to assist Alice with whatever the vampiress needed. Since it seemed like they wold remain in town for a while, it was only fitting that she made friends with the local alpha so she wouldn't be chased out of town during her first full moon in town as she had no intentions of staying inside. So, the young wolf found her way to the local watering hole, or the grill has she'd learned that it was called. It would probably be her place of employment while she stayed in town anyway so she might as well get acquainted. Figuring there would probably only be one alpha in such a small town, she followed the distinct scent of alpha male to the bar and casually leaned against it. "I have a feeling you're the man to talk to as a newcomer around here," she said and ordered a beer. Valerie knew that no matter how much she bathed, she wouldn't be able to get rid of the scent of old books and candle wax that lingered to her skin, but she'd learned to ignore it. She'd been a part of other packs before, when her job required she stayed in one locations for a longer period of time. It was easier to fall in line and avoid trouble if she wasn't in trouble with the local alpha. "I don't want any trouble, I just want to offer my services should you have any use of them." She knew her way of talking was a bit old fashioned at times, but being raised by scholars did that to a person. When she looked up at him next, her eyes had turned a golden yellow before she blinked and her eyes returned to their regular dark brown. He needed to know she had control over the wolf, the last thing any alpha wanted was a rookie with little control, her mother had taught her that much.

Jack had sat down at the bar and ordered a shot of vodka. He sigh softly and watched the bartender for a moment before smelling a wolf enter the bar. He didnt make any scene that he had noticed it and just carried on sinking his shot and took out a cigarette and light it up. He inhaled deeply and finally looked over once a female wolf leaned against the bar beside of him. He just cocked an eyebrow at her words."Depends." He replied simply and blew the smoke towards the crowd and flicked the ashes in a ash tray.
He looked back to her now and noticed her eyes changed and felt his change to a icy blue color. "Is that so?" He asked and smirked some."Do you have any abilities that are special?" He asked.

Valerie had the good sense to down half her beer when it arrived before answering the alpha. "That depends," she fired back at him when he asked about special abilities. "Depends on what qualifies as special around here anyway," she added as an afterthought. "I want to join your pack, at least for as long as work allows me to stay in town." She really should learn to shut her trap at times, but as long as she didn't say anything about the order, she should be fine.
There was nothing challenging going on, or she'd have been able to give the other wolf a demonstration of what she could do. As it was, she would have to tell him and sound like such a know-it-all. "I guess you can call me a copy-cat in a way. I can replicated people's movements without trouble, and I can hold my own in a fight. I'm Valerie by the way," at the end, she extended her hand to the other wolf. Common courtesy decreed that she should be polite towards a potential alpha, and that she ought to be the first to introduce herself when finding one.
Valerie really was working hard on not getting into too much trouble, and so far she'd done rather well actually. She hadn't gotten in one fight since she arrived in town, except for when some idiot got too close to Alice.

When she fired back, he only smirked some and inhaled deeply before running a hand through his hair. "Like telepathy or some kind of special powers that aren't basic abilities that wolves possessed." He replied and ordered another shot of vodka. He listened as she explained her powers and was somewhat intrigued by her power."Sounds very interesting." He said.
He wasnt to sure if he should trust her yet though."This job you said you had....what exactly do you do?" He asked curiously.
He took her hand and have it a firm shake."Jack Stone." He said.

Valerie wasn't one for small talk really, but she knew what was expected of her and she did her best to follow the social conventions of society. She'd learned the hard way as a teen that not doing so often led to trouble. "I'd show you, but so far I haven't seen anything hardly challenging enough to be worth trying," she said with a chuckle. Yeah, so she loved a good challenge, and she wasn't shy about expressing it either. If he were to accept her into his pack, he needed to know as much about her as possible she guessed, without knowing exactly what she did for a living.
Biting her lip slightly at the question, she figured she might as well answer as truthfully as possible while still being vague about the details. "Well, being alpha and all, I suppose you ought to know the truth. I do personal security for various gifted. My parents got me into it. If anyone asks though, I'm just bar-tending here a couple of nights a week, which would also be true." Well done, Salt. She'd been truthful, without revealing too much, while also implying that the security job was just for Jack's ears.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Jack Stone," she replied with a slight smile. She could only hope he wouldn't ask more questions about her line of work, because she'd really told him all there was that he needed to know. Unless Alice was told to bring the other werewolf into the Order for some reason or make him aware of its existence.

He was interested in learning more of her ability. "We'll could have you fight my beta it me....would that he challenging enough for you." He said and smiled. He cocked an eyebrow at her explanation of her job. He decided not to press the issue any further, besides if he ever thought her job was suspecious towards him then he could get Hunter to read her mind.
"We'll there are some rules in my pack that you will have to follow its nt alot and they are very simple but breaking these rules will have serious consequences." He said

Valerie was amused by Jack's suggestion, she'd love to get in a mock fight if it served to show the other how her gift truly worked. Besides, she was skilled at fighting, so it could be amusing for everyone involved. "As long as it's a fair fight," she said with a chuckle, not one to say no to such a challenge. She loved fighting and if it was a way to prove herself to Jack, then it was all the better.
It was good that Jack didn't press the matter about her job, that way she didn't have to lie to him either and being untruthful never solved anything when she was trying to win someone's trust. She would tell him if he really needed to know, but hopefully that time never came and she would never have to tell him about the Order.
"Well, lucky for you I'm good at following rules then. As long as they're reasonable and the punishment not unjust," she said with a chuckle. It was true though, she might get in trouble often, but it usually never was with someone she was supposed to listen to or because she broke any kinds of rules. When she got in trouble, it was because she acted without thinking.

He was always welcoming when it came to new members, but he was always cautious when a stranger such as herself wanted to join. He just smiled some at what she said concerning the fight."It will." He promised. He wondered if he should even have Hunter fight this one, he was more curious and figured he should do the honors instead of having his beta do it.
He gave Valerie a small smile."They are reasonable, I am very secretive when it comes to my pack, mainly I don't want anyone who is not apart of the pack to be involved or to know that we are doing.....I ask just to not be telling everyone on what we do." He said."And no disobeying anything I say either I am a fair leader and won't ask someone to do something that would harm them or put then in danger." He said.
"In a way, being apart of the pack is having alot of protection because I am in charge on the pack no one else is." He said

Valerie knew that approaching the alpha of a pack the way she had and just ask to join his pack was highly unconventional. Most cases she'd heard of, the alpha had found the new wolves, but the brunette didn't want to accidentally bump into someone like Jack so it was better to just seek them out and avoid the cloak and dagger that often followed initiation into a new pack. Her parents had tried to teach her about taking the long road around on some occasions, but it was far simpler to just get it over with and not put off something she needed to do anyway.
"That sounds fair. Just as long as you don't ask any secrets about my work, I won't tell any lies. So I can appreciate you wanting to keep a secret." That was always the most important thing to her when asking to join a new pack; if the alpha was fine with her not being too detailed about her work, she was fine with following whatever rules set in place. The moment an alpha had a problem with her not wanting to tell them exactly what she was doing, she was out the door and fended for herself while doing her job. Thankfully Alice wasn't a high maintenance job as the vampiress seemed to avoid trouble just fine.
"Well, I'd rather follow your orders than meet you as an enemy," she said amused. She'd studied the wolf through her peripheral vision and she'd concluded that he was probably just as strong as he claimed to be fair to those in his pack. She was smaller than average in her wolf form, so most people took her for granted, but it gave her an edge so she didn't mind much.

It seemed they had a mutual understanding of one another when it came to secrets. "Sounds for to me." He said with a smile and decided to not drink anymore tonight and put out his cigarette. He laid out a 20 dollar bill for the bartender and looke down to see his phone had ranged and answered."Her bottle is in the fridgerator behind the gallon of milk, yeah sorry about that its usually its on the side of the drive, yeah put her down for the night if you can cause ill be home soon if you can't it's fine." He said and said bye before looking at her.
"Same I don't like making enemies." He said and smiled.

It really was good that they seemed to both appreciate secrets. It meant there was still hope she could be a part of Jack's pack for the duration of her stay in Bitter Springs, though from the sounds of it they would be staying for a very long time. Alice had her work cut out for her digging through town records and talking to friends of hers, trying to learn what she could, so while she didn't need her, Valerie was free to get to know the other wolves.
The brunette turned away when Jack picked up his phone and talked to someone about what sounded like a small child. She finished her beer though and made no comment on the matter until he was done talking. "Really didn't peg you as the fatherly type. Though I bet it drives the girls wild to see such a caring father with his daughter," she wasn't mocking him or anything. It had honestly surprised her that he would be so casual about the pack thing and still be a father. She didn't know why though, she'd experienced many times that fathers (or mothers) made better alphas than people with no family of their own.
"So, what are we going to do about that fight then?" She knew she came across as eager to fight just then, but she was eager to prove herself that was all. She wanted people to see that she wasn't just a meek little girl.

He didnt know whether to take her comment as one being a smart ads remark or a serious question. He only looked to her with a somewhat serious expression."Sometimes they find my daughter to be quite a cute little red head.......she mostly gets the attention." He said with a smile now. He normally kept Kailah out of the way when it came to his pack. The only pack member that was allowed to be around her was Hunter and that was only because Amanda had trusted Hunter and was okay with it.
He got out from his seat now and stood infront of her, towering over her. He was a very muscular man as well as tall, so he was quite intimidating looking but he didnt think that Valerie would even think this and he didnt view her as weak either. "We can start now if you like, I can also show you out little head quarters and a place for the pack to hang out and stay when we go out during the full moon." He said and walke towards the exit. He called Huter and asked where he was, the beta was at the log house an he explained to the beta that they might have a new comer to the pack and that he was bringing her over. Hunter said he would get everything ready and hung up.

She really hadn't meant it as a smart ass remark when she spoke about the women and his daughter. She'd observed women when it came to children and most fawned over small children regardless of whether it was the mom or the dad that was out in the park with the child. She made a note not to pry further into the matter at the moment though. It was best to ear his trust before she asked any questions that would make him question her motives. After all, she wanted to join the pack, not learn as much as possible about the families of the other wolves. She was no agent after all.
At the suggestion to start the fighting and go see their head quarters, the female paid for her drink and stood up properly. She could tell without really fighting Jack that he was a strong man, but she'd fight whomever he wanted to show him she wasn't just a useless wolf eagerly seeking the protection of a pack without contributing anything. No, she didn't want any trouble, and in return she would do what Jack asked of her.
So she followed Jack, pulling her leather jacket tighter around herself as she stepped outside. "I can't really use my talents in wolf form though as having four legs rather than two can be limiting in some ways," she said and easily matched Jack's pace as they were headed to wherever it was they tended to meet up.

He looked back at her when she mentioned that she couldn't use her power in wolf form. "Well then guess were going to fight in our regular form then." He said with a smiled. He headed into the woods and walked deep within the forest. He finally stop infront of a big clearing, to her it would look a empty space but there was a huge log house. He walked i the protective circle and invited her in so now the log cabin could be seen.
Hunter was out in the front yard and smiled he he greeted his alpha."Huter this is Valerie, Valerie this is my beta Hunter." He said.

She was glad when Jack agreed to fight in their human form, she was better that way anyway. Valerie really couldn't fight as a wolf if her job required she got in a fight, so they'd spent most of her lessons learning to fight in her human form, even if the werewolves had taught her to fight in her wolf form as well when she was of age. The woods were still foreign to her, but hopefully Jack and the pack would be able to acquaint her better with them.
When they arrived at their location and all she could see was a big, empty space, she was confused. She was even more confused when suddenly there was a log cabin where there had been none before. "Neat little spell you've got set up there," she said, clearly fascinated with how well situated the werewolf pack was. If witches would do that for a wolf pack, they must mean something special to the witches.
Smiling slightly at Hunter, she was surprised when the beta was so much smaller than Jack. She'd almost expected Jack to have a bigger beta, but she figured she wouldn't judge the boy by his size, he would have to be capable to have earned position as beta. "Pleasure to meet you, Hunter," she said with a chuckle, looking up at Jack with a mischievous look to her eyes. She was eager to prove herself more than anything, but she would have to wait patiently until Jack decided it was time. "So, you built all this yourselves?" She didn't want to be too curious, but she really wanted to know all she could about the wolves in town so she'd know how best to fit in.
