Amanda was confused for a moment as to what had just happened when Kevin pulled away like that. She must have been more intoxicated than she'd thought. For a moment she hadn't cared the slightest that he was just a normal human, she'd just wanted to feel good and she'd been too caught up in the moment to realize that it would never have ended well to begin with. Until he so kindly reminded her by stepping away like that.
"You're too much of a gentleman to let anything bad happen," she smiled slightly and leaned against the wall while she watched him search for the cigarette he'd dropped earlier. "I'm sorry, I took advantage and made everything awkward," she said after a while.
Amanda knew better than to get drunk and pick up random strangers like that. She really did, but she'd forgotten how good it felt to be desired just for being beautiful and not because of her gifts. He'd made her feel normal, despite the little magic trick she'd pulled earlier and she adored him for that. It didn't excuse her overly touchy behavior, but it certainly explained why she'd been ready to throw all her beliefs out of the window for a brief moment.
"How about I buy the next round, and I promise to keep my hands to myself? I might even tell you why I'm really sticking around town," she said, not wanting the night to end just because she'd made Kevin uncomfortable. She wanted to make up for it by showing him she could behave properly and despite their obvious differences she could always use more friends.

Feeling like a fool and still chastising himself, Kevin couldn't help but beam at her like a dolt. "No advantage was taken, and no awkwardness is ensuing. Not for me at least." He gathered the butt of his cigarette and picked it up carefully, the end still barely burning. With practiced ease he rolled the cigarette in his fingers, emptying all loose tobacco and what was left of the cherry. Kevin was more uncomfortable with his own reaction than hers. Denying a beautiful woman, he had to be a fool.
Kevin took a second to think about the options, knowing full and well ending the evening was not one he would choose. "Another round sounds, strangely, like a good idea. Something other than tequila?" His face was almost pleading, but if she wanted another shot of the Mexican liquor he'd handle it. Tequila had just never been the same since chasing a chupacabra in Mexico.
Ever the gentleman, or so he tried to convince himself and everyone else, he made sure to get the door for her, "Ma'am." He gave a mock bow, all the better to stare at her as she walked past in a hidden way. Alright, so no one is a gentleman always.

Amanda just couldn't help the grin that was spreading on her lips when she heard his reply to her apology. So the night was still salvageable, as long as she kept her hands to herself to a certain degree as she didn't want to make Kevin uncomfortable again. Normally, she would have just stormed off after being rejected like that, but she found that it might actually be for the better at this point. She was prone to forget he didn't know about the supernatural and would probably have forgotten at a very inconvenient moment.
"I can live with that," she said with a chuckle. Since she really felt like trying to make up for putting Kevin in such an awkward position, she wouldn't force him to have more tequila when he obviously wasn't too fond of it. "Would whiskey suit you better?" she asked, feeling generous about not getting her way for once. Now she just had to keep her hands to herself and not be overly touchy. It was a wonder she had made it through staying with Mason for a while without anything more serious than an adrenaline fueled kiss happening with the way she got at times when she was drinking. Especially since they'd been drinking a lot together at the time as well.
Amanda was utterly oblivious to Kevin's true intentions for opening the door for her like that, she just enjoyed how polite he was at all times. "I feel like I should warn you, if you think I'm crossing any sorts of lines, just tell me. I'll do my best not to, of course, just not making any promises," she chuckled. If she'd been the kind of girl that cared about her reputation, she would have been so bored. There would have been no drinking with strangers then, and definitely no drunken flirting as she would have been too worried people would think she was a slut. As it was, some people already seemed to think that so she just didn't care anymore.

Guilt crept into him, he truly didn't want her to keep her hands to herself, but it would be better for both of them. He was just glad she hadn't felt completely rejected and stormed away, a perfect evening dashed against the rocks of his 'chivalry'. He tried to never objectify women, but when presented with a work of art, he always felt it better to appreciate it than avert his gaze. So long as she didn't catch him drooling, he figured his 'noble' persona would stick.
"The lines are more of guides rather than set rules. No promises needed, Amanda." He led her to the table that was still vacant from earlier, "Now, it is my turn to make it up to you, I'll go get those shots." He was going to do his best to make sure she never paid for any of their shots, it didn't feel right to him, a woman buying him drinks. A little backwards and time-worn, but as she'd stated, he may as well have come from another century.
At the bar, he nodded to the bartender after catching the man's attention. "Two Washington Apples." Man gave Kevin an odd look as he cleaned a glass. "I mean," he coughed and brought his voice down an octave, "two Irish Car Bombs." His words slurred but not enough for the bartender to cut him off.
"Waitress will bring them over in a minute." Said the bartender before turning to make the order.
Kevin sauntered back to the table and plopped down in his seat, "So, how do you feel about guzzling?" His grin curled wickedly, a mischievous glimmer in his eye. In truth he meant about chugging down the 'shot' he'd ordered them, but connotations are all the fun of words.

Even with Kevin's reassurance that no promises were needed, Amanda felt like she had to do her very best not to cross any lines again. He probably couldn't handle the truth about her anyway, so best to try to keep to herself, even if he did make it incredibly difficult at times. Besides, she was always looking for new drinking buddies anyway so she could get away with going out for drinks without anyone passing judgement.
"Now where's the fun in taking it slow?" she asked with a mischievous smirk of her own. She had yet to learn that it was OK to have drinks just to enjoy herself, she usually had way too much every time she went out, and her body always reminded her the next day that it might be a good idea to go easier next time. Until she went out and did it all over again. It was probably another reason why it was a good thing she wasn't the primary caretaker for her daughter.
"You're chivalrous, handsome and not afraid to step up on a stage... Where have you been all my life? A girl could do with more people like yourself in her life," she said, not really thinking much about how it sounded at first. When the realization set it, she couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "That didn't come out quite right, did it? What I meant was, I'd be more than happy to have you as a friend, if you'll have me."

**WARNING: Inappropriate language ensues**
Kevin stroked the stubble on his chin, being overly dramatic about his inherent narcissism. "Only thing wrong is, you forgot rugged, manly and absolutely hilarious." He hoped she heard the sarcasm in his voice, though it wasn't entirely an exaggeration. Kevin did think himself quite witty and at least mildly attractive, he just preferred playing conceited and self-important rather than humble. "A man could be incredibly lucky you friend." What Kevin didn't mention was that some would consider themselves incredible unlucky, something he feared would happen in the near future. No one liked being friend-zoned. Since he couldn't be anything but that, he would have to stay lucky, without getting lucky. Better to be miserable with someone than without.
The waitress came by with their drinks on her tray and set down to the two glasses of Guinness followed by two shots of Jameson. "Thanks, dear." He slipped her a couple dollar tip before she went to the next table to get orders. With the glass in one hand and the shot in the other, Kevin raised them up, ready to drop them after his toast. He did his best to appear stoic and serious, as this was his very favorite toast to give.
"To honor." He was doing well so far, looking her in the eyes, and being incredibly serious about it all. "Because if you can't come in her, come on her!" He grinned wickedly and dropped the shot into the Guinness and started to chug the concoction.

She couldn't help but be highly amused by Kevin's response. He was indeed a witty man, and one she wouldn't have minded being more than friends with if things had been different. As it were, she was now more determined than ever to make the best out of what she had, and that meant enjoying herself with people that made her feel like she was worth a damn.
His toast made it incredibly hard to keep a straight face this time though and she was doing her best to keep up with him to chug her own drink. Once she slammed the glass against the table though, she couldn't help but do her best to be serious for a moment, but she was grinning before she was even halfway through her reply: "You seriously didn't just say that." She'd tried to sound offended, but it was clear that she was just amused though as she was struggling really hard not to just burst out in laughter at his silliness.
"Honestly didn't think you had it in you," she mused. The alcohol was quickly catching up on her now though as her words slurred slightly together. She was about to say something else when her phone started vibrating in her pocket. Holding up a finger to signal that it would only take a moment, she picked up the phone. After a few words back and forth, she finally hung up with a: "Just take her to her dad's." Before she smiled apologetic about the whole thing. "I am so sorry, mother seemed to think I would be in any way capable of getting a toothing toddler to sleep..." She had been very careful not to say that the toddler in question was her own, but she'd felt like he'd owed him somewhat of an explanation as to why she'd been rude and picked up the phone to begin with.

Her reaction was why he loved that toast so much. Everyone saw him as straight-laced, boring, by-the-books and the other thousands of metaphors for a goody-two-shoes. The more serious the delivery of the first line of the toast, with just enough of a pause, and people would stare bug-eyed at him, bewildered that Kevin, soft spoken, never-do-wrong Kevin, had said something almost dirty. Sure it wasn't as funny as when he'd been sixteen and surprised his brothers-at-arms
Once finished chugging his drink he burped, and hit at his chest as the carbonation from the beer fought him. In the end he won, having found Irish Car Bombs to be among his favorite shots. He waited patiently for her to get off the phone, only picking up snippets of it as he tried to give her a modicum of privacy. In Amanda's favor, Kevin liked kids. They tended to be quirky and say whatever was on their mind, without any regards to who, or why, no worry of repercussions. Pure unadulterated curiosity.
Kevin tilted the now empty cup of Guinness, the shot glass tinkling ever so softly inside of it, "My mom always used to say rum or whiskey on the gums helped." His voice was drunk and soft, fond memories floating in his mind like a far away dream. Quickly, he chased them away with a joke, knowing any thoughts like that would lead him to melancholy, and tonight was not the night for that. "Maybe that's why I grew up with such a love, if she'd used tequila I might like the stuff more!" He grinned at Amanda and let her secrets be her own. She could claim the toddler or not, it wouldn't change his opinion of her. Should the friendship continue into something true and trusting, he would expect to know.

Even if she hadn't been drinking, Amanda wouldn't have been capable of soothing her daughter. It seemed only Jack was able to calm her down when she was crying like that, so she didn't see why people kept expecting her to be able to do so. Didn't matter how much she loved her little girl, she was utterly incapable of consoling her when she was upset.
"I don't really have any preferences for liquor, so mom must've used something else on me," she chuckled. She knew what her mother had used, but she couldn't exactly tell Kevin that her mom was a witch too. She didn't understand why she couldn't just use the same potion on Kailah, but maybe Jack didn't want Kailah raised around so much magic.
"She's the real reason for sticking around anyway, can't really help out from afar..." That was the closest Amanda would get to claim the toddler at the moment, because she got sad when she was thinking about her. "Anyway... Let's change the subject," she said smiling slightly. She didn't want to put a damper on the evening. "What's your favorite band?"

"Creedence Clearwater Revival." Kevin enjoyed these kinds of questions, the simple, straightforward questions that had an absolute answer. It was almost to the point that's all he'd be able to do, the last beverage he'd consumed was going straight to his head and causing quite the mental fog. His thoughts didn't connect her with the toddler, though his mind held on to the fact for future recognition, possibly. If nothing more, he would assume kinship, close cousin, little sister, perchance a daughter. For now though he listened to the current singer with a wince, hoping maybe Amanda would sing again.
"What's you favorite?" Kevin asked, wondering if it was the same band that sang earlier, though he still didn't know what band that would be. Idly he began flipping through a song book, wondering if he would torture the crowd and Amanda again, now that he was entering the stages of drunk.

Amanda had no doubts that she would have to explain about her daughter at a later point in time, but she would save the real explanations for later, when they were both sober and she would have to know him better. Right now she was more than content talking about music as it was something she'd always have. It didn't matter if people kept telling her to take it easy, she'd still have music. It was really the simplest way to cheer her up and give her energy to do what she needed to.
She smiled at his favorite music. She always misheard their lyrics though and couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the thought. It wasn't her favorite band, but she didn't change the radio if they were on either. So when she was asked what her favorite band was, she had to be serious for a moment. "I have a few favorites, I have phases where I'll just listen to a single band, right now that has to be Paramore."
Curious as to what Kevin was playing at, she started looking at the songs he was flipping through the book. Maybe she should see if there was a guitar she could borrow, she did want to sing again if Kevin was going on stage again. "Why don't we find something and we can both sing?" She suggested, knowing it would be more difficult to control how the spell she'd cast earlier would take affect now that she'd had more to drink herself as well.

Unlike some people, who had musical tastes that changed over the years, Kevin had loved Creedence Clearwater Revival as long as he could remember. His father had listened to them, and he held them close to his heart with fond memories. It had been a good enough night only the good ones haunted him for the moment. Easily he returned from his preoccupied mind at the sound of Amanda's voice.
"Well, there are the classics. Summer Nights, Love Shack.. Any others you can think of?" He grinned widely at her, his intoxication showing through as his thoughts turned dirty. Either one of those songs suggested things he wouldn't mind doing with Amanda. Shaking his head, he tried to knock the ideas out of his head, tried to remember he was a gentleman, but it was getting harder and harder.
Any song she picked to sing, he would join, so long as there were lyrics to see or he knew it well enough to sing by heart. Common karaoke songs he knew well enough, but duets for a man and a woman, he really could only think of the two, and he figured she wouldn't want either of those. As always, he would let it be lady's pick.

It was fascinating how the only duets he seemed to think of were dirty ones. For such an upstanding guy, his mind did take some wonderful leaps at times that highly amused her. "Don't stop believing makes for a good duet, or you can always just pick a song you know and I'll sing along," she said with a chuckle. It didn't matter to her what they ended up singing. She could harmonize for all she cared, she just wanted to have a chance to sing with him before they called it a night. After all, the rate they were going, they were bound to burn out of energy soon.
"There's always 'Need you now', it depends on what you want to sing. Either way I'm sure it'll be fun just to sing with you," she said. Making her mind up though, she flipped through the book until she found the song she was thinking about and chuckled at the lyrics as she showed him the song. "I think that one would be fun," she said, having clearly made up her mind that she wanted to sing that if he'd join her.

Only one of the songs was really dirty, in the other one they were just 'splashing around'. Sandra D would never be 'dirty'. Not until the end of the movie. As for her suggestions, he lazily shrugged his shoulders, nodding his head that he hadn't thought about them singing a song that wasn't necessarily a duet. At her second suggestion, Kevin perked up a bit, "We can do that one, no promises on how well I actually sing though.. You are going to outclass me," he made a kind of engine take off sound, shooting his hand up to the ceiling, "Just so far. Way outer space outclass." He heard his own words and almost winced at how stupid he was sounding. It was probably a good idea he hadn't ordered another scotch.
Reading the lyrics, he was still coherent enough to realize he hadn't given her his number. The action never felt genuine, or good. Every time he tried to pass his number to a woman he felt sleazy, even if he really did want her to call him or vice versa. So Kevin decided to play it simpler. He was just drunk enough to think he had a decent plan going, after she got up to put in the song, he'd write his number down and somehow slip it to her.
'###-#### -K' His numbers were too big on the piece of paper to let him write anything but the first letter of his name, he hoped it didn't come across as too strange. Now he just needed to find a way to give/pass/slip the paper to her.

Amanda didn't mind the flirty nature their conversation had, especially since they both seemed to have lines they didn't really want to cross. As long as they were on the same page that was all that mattered to her. "You'll do great, I just know it," she said with a wink at his over-dramatic way of putting himself down for his musical skills. He dared to try and that was all that mattered to her.
Once they had agreed to do the song, Amanda got up and signed them up. After all, she still seemed to be the most coherent out of the two of them. Besides, it was her suggestion so it only seemed right to be the one to sign them up.
Upon returning to the table, she hugged Kevin before she chuckled slightly upon releasing him from her brief embrace. "We're up shortly," she said before sitting down in her seat again, smiling at the handsome stranger.
