It was normal to see Luna in the middle of the forest, especially at this time of day. It was sunset. The orange glow caused misshaped shadows to fall over the hiking trails, and most of the people in the forest had been there all day and were leaving. It seemed like she was the only one going in.
Her hair blew in the wind, getting in her eyes. She huffed. She walked deeper and deeper into the forest, the orange of the sun getting deeper and deeper as the minutes ticked by. She paused- listened to the trees move in the wind, the birds chirping, and giggled. By now it was almost dark, but she didn't want to leave. The moon was bright tonight, and it lit the way. She had already ventured far off of the path, and was currently maneuvering herself over a fallen log. Towards the middle there was a large crash and the log split, causing Luna's left foot to become trapped. After a few mumbled curse words and a bit of struggling, Luna was out and about again.
She came to a bit of a circular clearing where there was no trees, but then she heard a snap behind her. Maybe it was a deer? But she hadn't seen any, and besides, it was still light enough for her to make out shapes.
"Hello?" She called out, more curious than frightened. She hoped it was a deer. A nice one. She'd always wanted to pet a deer.

Eric had ended up more or less struggling with keeping the animals he was part of at bay. He himself had been eating regularly for once but the beasts needed and urged for hunting and the kill. He had been trying to to push it off but in the end had to give in.
As sunset started, he made his way to the woods. He had pulled his coat tightly around himself, his eyes looking cold and nervous as he rushed. He had been quick to put his jeans and sweater into his bag before finally transforming into his chimera form. He couldn't help to groan and whine at how his body was relieved of a sliver of his pain. He stood on all fours so as to hide his bag containing his clothes inside a tree before starting to run off. He hasn't taken off the collar of sorts he left bound on his wrist as he ran, his mind slipping more into hunting instinct. Quickly he chose small game as he chased down a rabbit, the animals within him seeming satisfied from it. Large teeth sank into the rabbit, the canine face looking mildly content with his catch. Carefully he started to make his way to a clearing before picking up on the smell and energy of a super kid. He froze where he stood on the edge of the clearing with the rabbit still between his teeth as he just stared. He looked like a massive dog, only he was far too big for any kind of canine, making him panic some.

Okay. This was new. A giant beast stood in front of her. What was it? She squinted, backing up slowly into a tree, her hands feeling behind her for the rough bark. What was that? A dog? No, it couldn't be. It was too... big. And scary. Very scary. The frightening part was maybe not so much in the actual beast itself, but the dead rabbit it was holding in its teeth. Or the fact they were making eye contact.
His eyes looked intelligent though, so it wasn't just some oversized dog. It was probably... a werewolf? A mutated werewolf? Luna's eyes squinted in thought. She looked around her discreetly, but the treees were too high up to climb. Maybe if she just didn't move...
Her back was pressed against the tree, but she still stared at teh creature. Maybe if it was human... "You know, I knew I heard something. Now, listen. You definitely do not want to eat me. I'm scrawny. That rabbit has more meat on it's bones. You hear me? But you're not that scary, are you? Maybe you're just a gentle giant...? Man, I really hope so. "
She gave a nervous laugh and stepped slowly forward, sticks crunching under her as she wiped her hands on her jeans. "I'm not a hunter. Thought you oughta know. If you can even understand me." She declared, just in case the beast thought she was only there for stabbing people.

Eric watched the girl back away and into a tree. He just kept staring afraid that the break in eye contact on his side would make the animals in him angry. The girl was the first to break it, taking the quick seconds of her looking around to take the rabbit and swallow it whole. He was lucky to have the reptile in him for that moment to make such easier. He listened to the girl as she spoke, tilting his head but staying in place as the way she talked to him was rather strange. It reminded him more of how people talk to pets, a bit unsure of the matter. He gave a dog like whine at the girl thinking he would eat her. The animals in him growing restless and making him hurt some. He took a few steps forward before sitting down, moving his tail into view as while in the clearing it was easier to see what he looked like.
"I won't hurt you...I know you're no hun...hunter. I'm Eric..."
His duel toned voice was heavy with distortion in his chimera form, his eyes looking rather sad but trying to assure the girl he meant no harm.

Luna smiled and gave a sigh of relief, then relaxed a bit when Eric sat down. "Oh, that's a relief! And I'm glad you can talk. It's wonderful. Anyways-"
She took a few steps forward at a normal pace, now only a few feet away from Eric. "I'm Luna. You must be a superkid too. I am, but mine isn't nearly as exciting as yours. Eric. That's a nice name. Y'know, I've never met a dog-wolf-snake-rabbit-eating boy named Eric before. This is a first. It's lovely to meet you."
She grinned again, then stuck her hand on her hip and one under her chin, her eyes wrinkling in thought as she observed Eric, slowly doing a half-circle around him. She stopped suddenly, huffing. "Ugh. No fair. Yours is cool."

Eric was shocked at how fast this girl had gone from scared to happy just at hearing him talk. Most would still run or try to hurt him even after introducing himself, making him rather nervous and hesitant of the girl. He learned that her name was Luna and seemed very much the cheerful type. He couldn't help to whine at her saying his chimera form was exciting, his mind not understanding why someone would want to be a monster like him. He watched her walk around him in a circle, making sure to keep his tail over his feet so as to not trip her.
"I'm a chimera...I wasn't born like this, alchemists did this to...to me. What is your power..?"
He moved to hang his head low as he could feel the pain settling in his chest. He wished the tea he had been taking would be much more active but he didn't really expect them to. He was starting to grow curious of Luna as he wasn't used to being approached with near child-like curiousity.

Luna frowned, her expression turning suddenly from happy curiosity into sympathy. "Oh, man.... I didn't know... I'm sorry about that..." She had only heard whispers of the weird experiments some scientists were known for, and only guessed the alchemists had messed with Eric too much for him to be fixed.
"A chimera? I've read about those! I can't believe I didn't see it before! I think I read about it in some rad mythology book. Her sympathy flicked off and she smiled brightly again, remembering the giant brown book she had checked out from the library only a few weeks ago.
"My power? Oh, well, uh.. it's just kinda. Well, I can catch people's pain. Y'know, like a big net. I've learned to put up walls though, or else I'd probably have caught that rabbit being bitten and ended up in a real pickle. I'm like a big shield, I guess. It's mostly beneficial to others. Which sucks. But you get the cool one." She giggled, her hands drumming on her jeans now. She would have normally been scared of the Eric-beast, but she'd seen weirder things. Way weirder things.

Eric noticed how the girl felt bad for a moment of his condition, but she seemed to just bounce back as if nothing had happened. He tilted his head in a form of confusion at Luna going on about reading of chimeras in mythology, not seeming to understand why that would apply other than the name.
"It not the same. chimera in myths are lion, dragon, and goat....im dog, snake, and h-human....i hurt being so...so twisted up inside."
he had no other way of explaining it aside from being twisted and melted into a monster, the contorted frame of his body always hurting due to it. Pupiless eyes went wide at learning this girl could actually take away pain. He didn't like that it would instead be inflicted on her but to have a moment after so long of not hurting....it was a distant thought. Eric moved to lay down with a whine, the heaving of his breath trying to force the pain down like usual.
"interesting p-power...sad power too...."
