It had been a couple of weeks since the fight, maybe more. No one was really counting the days whilst trying to get their lives back on track. Sammy had watched the time go by in a blur, unable to think and unable to come to terms with all he had found out lately. Sure, like this was the right time to dump a load of responsibilities on his head like that.
He’d spent most of his time with Beau in the hospital. His younger brother was well on the way to a full recovery and they’d just been given the news that he was able to leave within the next week. He hadn’t really seen much of Jack, or at least Jack hadn’t seen him. Like everyone else Sammy knew, Jack was visited by him but insisted on being asleep every time he had popped by.
There were so many questions he needed answering and the only person he knew that could do that was Jack so he’d spent the last couple of weeks waiting on the edge of his chair waiting to hear the news that Jack was fit enough to talk again. When that day finally came, Sammy wasted no time in tracking the alpha down. There was a lot that needed to be discussed involving both him and Beau and the pack that had tried to destroy their new home.
He found Jack near the forest as he’d expected; the man usually spent a lot of time here from what Sammy had figured out and heard. Approaching him, Sammy wasn’t sure how he was going to deal with this. Should he just start asking questions and risk sounding like a blabbering idiot that needed a kick in the right direction? Because that is exactly how he felt. But then he didn’t want to Jack to figure out that the younger wolf wasn’t ready for all this responsibility, not after he’d tried so hard to be the grown up since moving.
Nearing Jack, he cleared his throat although he knew the alpha would have heard him coming. “Umm, Jack? We need to talk…”

Having Sammy join the pack did put him alittle on edge now. He knew that the boy was the new alpha to the pack that had attacked their town. He knew it when the old alpha died, course the pack had actually turned to him first before then switching to Sammy's side. He didn't let it be known to anyone else, not even Hunter. He kept this little secret to himself and wondered when would be a good time to bring the subject to the surface. Surely Sammy knew that he was the new alpha, it wasn't a feeling that could just disappear.
He sat in the meadow, looking up at the sky and was in deep thought when a scent made him turn his head. There stood Sammy, informing him that they needed to talk. He had a idea of what Sammy was going to talk with him about and just motioned for the other to sit down beside of him before turning his attention back to the sky.

Sammy waited a few feet away from the alpha while waiting for instructions. He wasn’t sure if Jack wanted to even talk about this just yet or not, especially when he hadn’t long been out of the hospital. He watched Jacks every movement with a worried look on his face before he was gestured to take a seat. He kept a small distance away from Jack and sat cross legged on the grass. It wasn’t the nicest of days but luckily being a werewolf had its pro’s when it came to the harsh winter weather. For a moment, he stayed silent and picked at the grass in front of him before he finally decided to just say what he needed to.
Since the fight there had been something different about Sammy, something that had kept him on edge and changed the way he thought about things too. He wasn’t sure if it was just because of the way the other wolves had acted once their alpha had gone or if there was actually something wrong with him. It made him feel sick, stressed and worried all at once which was slowly driving him insane.
“The pack… the way they acted wasn’t normal was it?” He asked Jack with nothing but uncertainty in his voice as he glanced at the alpha sat across from him. He wasn’t stupid, he had seen enough fights to know what happened once an alpha lost their life; the beta took over and the fight would continue until either they surrendered or were murdered. Thing was though, they hadn’t turned to their beta, instead they had all gathered around Sammy and Beau as though waiting for something to happen which confused the hell out of everyone. Sammy had thought that maybe they had stopped because they were family and had maybe realised that they had to stop before they lost anyone else. He almost hoped this was the reason, but packs didn’t run like that. If you were given orders, you did them without questioning, even if that meant turning your back on those you held close.
He scratched his head and looked out at the trees, watching them sway in the wind. “Is there something I should know Jack? Because something sure as hell feels wrong inside me and it’s not going away anytime soon.” He asked him straight to save the complications he felt sure were about to follow anyway and found himself holding his breath. Something told him it wasn’t going to be good. That something had been telling him a lot of things lately, stealing his own voice to do so too. Beau said it was him instincts and that he should follow them but Sammy knew instincts never had a voice as strong as the one he had been hearing.

Jack could sense the alpha instincts in the other starting to act up now. It made his inner alpha almost growl. It was never a good idea to have another potential alpha to another pack be allowed in his pack or any other pack. When you have two alpha's in the same pack, heads rolled and blood was usually shed. Fortuately though that hadn't happened yet between Sammy and him...and hoped that it wouldn't.
Silence fell between the two men before Sammy finally spoke up. He sigh and rubbed the back of his head before answering. No....and I know why they acted the way they did.... He said softly.
He turned his attention to Sammy now as the other went on and said that he didn't understand his feelings at the moment. Your a natural born alpha....when the alpha to that pack died...they looked to you because its your birth right....and the reason why you are feeling the way you are is because those alpha genes are activating.....its a very normal thing to feel if you are a direct descendent to being alpha to a pack like yours that had been around for generations....I could have been the alpha to the Romanian pack, but I ran off and formed my own pack..... He said.

Sammy shuffled on the spot to face Jack when he realised he was finally going to get some answers. He even went as far as holding his breath should he accidently breathe too loud and miss a part. Silly, but at that moment it made perfect sense. He wasn’t sure how he should feel about the information Jack was throwing at him but stared at the man in utter disbelief for at least a minute after he had stopped talking. This had to be a joke. Since when would anyone in the right mind leave him in charge I was absolute idiocy and completely bizarre as far as Sammy was concerned.
His expression changed back to the same confused one from before as the silence started to make things awkward again. He couldn’t think of the words to say to express how bewildering this news was or how it made him feel. He didn’t even know himself how he felt. It all added up though; he had been told this before but had always felt the responsibilities would be skipped when it came to him, especially after his priorities had changed since leaving the old pack behind. It wasn’t like he had ever planned on going back; in fact he had hoped he would never have to return to the place he grew up ever again. He wasn’t ready for this at all, no amount of persuading or teaching would convince him he could take such a huge burden. He could barely look after himself.
Finally, he nodded his head and turned back to look amongst the trees. “I guess that makes sense…” He mumbled and furrowed his eyebrows, only now thinking about all the changes this was going to create in his life. What if he didn’t want this? Did he not have a say? All he wanted to do was look after his small shop and look after his brother; he didn’t want a pack of wolves looking to him for instructions and guideness. It was utterly ridiculous. Although he already knew the answer, he decided to ask Jack the question anyway and hope that somehow his answer would be different to everyone else’s. “So… I don’t suppose there is any way to turn these… umm, ‘alpha genes’ off, is there? Or at least a way to pass them on?” He let out a small nervous giggle that hadn’t been meant to escape and carried on picking at the grass as his mind spun with different thoughts. All of which were negative.

He didn't know how to really....feel about having another alpha in his pack. He didn't say or do anything that would make Sammy think that him being in the pack and also being a new alpha bother him....but it did. Sammy did owe him, he helped the guy by offering him and his brother protection and helped put a end to his uncles rein of terror that the man inflicted on both boys. He wouldn't deny that he would be somewhat pissed off if Sammy turn his pack on Jack.
You could simply ignore it.....when I was turn I had those same urges and feelings....but I ignored them till I did just form a pack here. He said.
He looked at Sammy now, his brows furrowed as if irritated with the other wolf. Having another alpha in the pack isn't a good thing.....I am surprised you haven't tried fighting me..... He admitted.

It gave Sammy very little relief hearing he could simply ignore his families pack as Jack had done with his own. Sure, you could turn away for a while but like Jack, every alpha would eventually need its own pack be it the one they were meant for or a different one entirely. There wasn’t much hope that he could stick around with the pack he had gotten to know over the past few weeks, not if it meant putting stress on Jack and the others with him just being there. It wasn’t something he was going to push aside all together just yet but even he knew that now this was all out in the open, him and Jack weren’t exactly going to be able to work well together.
He sighed and felt like giving up for a second, willing to turn his back on Bitter and head home if that is what his purpose in life was meant to be. He couldn’t very well turn his back on his family now could he? Then again, he didn’t want to turn his back on Bitter Springs either. This place was like his home; more than England had ever been and he wasn’t prepared to make his decisions just yet. He would travel home first and see what their thoughts were on the matter. Who knew, maybe they wouldn’t want him to be their leader? That would make things a hell of a lot easier.
Glancing back at Jack, he saw the others eyebrows furrow and narrowed his eyes at him, clearly offended that Jack had even thought such a thing. “Yeah, I know Jack… I’ve been brought up around a pack for long enough to know the consequences of allowing two alpha’s within the same pack. Also, what have I ever done to you to make you think I would attack you?” He asked with concern. “This may surprise you… but not everyone thinks with their claws and teeth.” He added bluntly, only now averting his eyes to the floor again with a heavy sigh as he realised that may have come across a little more hostile than he had meant for it to. “Look, I’m not going to make this hard or awkward for anyone ok. I don’t want to fight about it; I just want to get this whole thing sorted out and understand where I’m meant to be. Until then… I think it would be best if Beau and I stayed away from your pack. At least until we find out what’s been said in England.”

He knew that it was probably a insult to Sammy at what he said, but he was only being honest. He knew more of what if was like to be a alpha than Sammy did. He didn't quite care if he had insulted the other or now, he was going to be upfront with the other. I never said that you would...I am just surprised is all....alphas are more violent than betas and omega's, I wasn't trying to insult you but I am going to be honest and up-front with you. He said.
He stood up now and took out a pack of smokes at Sammy's decision, putting one between his lips and lighted one up. Well if you think that is what best then you should do it, hope that you come back to Bitter Springs....but guess you and your brother aren't under protection anymore and I won't tell the council about your ties to the pack that had attacked us....they wouldn't like that bit of information. He admitted.

Sammy listened to every word Jack said, finding it harder and harder to not talk out and explain his feelings on the whole subject. It felt like it had been a waste of time right now as Sammy could clearly feel himself getting wound up at Jack’s attitude. Of course, honesty was usually the right way forward but for some reason, Sammy found his patience wearing thinner a lot quicker than it normally would at Jack's lack of empathy, especially after he'd looked up to Jack in the last few weeks for all he'd done. He needed someone to tell him what to do. He needed someone to kick him in the right direction without being so insensitive about it all.
Frowning, he felt his fists clench when Jack rose to his feet and carried on, Sammy clearly in disbelief at what was being said. It wasn’t like he had a choice to be in this position; it wasn’t like he had asked for it. If that was how cold hearted the council could really be when faced with these predicaments then what use were they? As far as Sammy had been aware, the council were meant to help those in need, not turn their backs. Jumping to his feet, he brushed himself down and took a few, brisk steps towards the alpha, clearly worked up by now. “Look, tell them what you want. Hell, someone is going to have to at some point right? It’s not like I asked for any of this and I’m clearly not going to get the help I was hoping for around here so maybe it would be better to head back to England. At least there, under my rules, no one would have a back turned to them when their priorities were spilt against their wishes. I knew there had to be something about this town that didn’t make it so perfect. I’ll see you around Jack.”
He turned on his heel now and started to storm of back through the trees. It did almost explain why he and Jack never left on good terms but he had expected some sort of understanding from the man he had started to look up too. Growling under his breath, he already had it in mind to pack his things when he got home and pull his brother back to England. He’d then be able to see if his mother was alive and if she was, she would surely know what to do.

He sigh at how Sammy had reacted to what he said. He honestly didn't think the other would get so wound up just because him and his brother weren't under protection. Sammy was a alpha now, which meant that he no longer needed to be babied by anyone. Jack wasn't going to let things be all that happy and go lucky for Sammy, the other was a alpha now which meant he was aleader and had to take care of things on his own. Jack wasn't doing this to be a prick, he was doing it because he felt like if Sammy could run a pack like that, then surely he could look after him and his brother.
Jack said nothing or attempt to stop the other, only smoking his cigarette casually before heading back home to get some sleep and to deal with the order of business that had come up whil ehe was incarcerated in the hospital.
