It was a bright sunny day in the town of Somber. The birds were singing, there was a light wind blowing, the day was blessed. It seemed like it was going to be a good one for Lily René. Smiling as she walked about the basement of her parents’ house, she picked up the water can to do a quick run around to her plants before she left to head out for the day. She knew that it was a weird place to grow plants, but then again, she didn’t want her siblings wrecking them did she? Setting down her water can, she turned on the Sun lamps and waved bye to her babies. Locking the door behind her, she walked up the stairs and then to her bed room on the ground floor. After rooting around her bag to see if she had any spliff, she smiled as she found a baggy but wasn't happy that there wasn't much there. She was supposed to be selling some on that day to some bloke she had met at a party few days back. Taking out the contents of the bag and rolling it into a joint, the brunette took out a lighter and took a deep drag from it. Feeling the relaxing waves roll over her after a few minutes, she took another couple of drags before putting it out and going about her business once more. Dragging a box out from under the bottom bunk which was her bed, she opened it and quickly took out a baggy and a half, before closing it and shoving it under her bed again. Dropping the baggys’ into her bag, Lily smiled and head out of the room she shared with her younger twin sisters. It took her about a minute to pass through the hall, drop an ‘I’m going out’ to whoever was home and then close the door behind her. Walking down the drive-way, she looked around her to see if her parents’ car was around so that she could try and get a lift. Seeing it not, she picked up her brother’s bike and decided to cycle her way there. It wasn't that far from her parents’ to the forest but she didn't want to walk all the way there and back later. Speeding down the road on her brother’s bike, she smiled after spotting the first trees of the forest. She kept going slowing as she reached the grass and then getting off the bike and leaning it against a tree. Sitting down on the base of the tree, Lily took out the joint from earlier, and her lighter once more before lighting it a second time. Zoning out, she didn't even notice the vampire standing in front of her blocking the sun from touching her.

For once, since arriving in Somber, the weather wasn’t actually all that gloomy. Tate was sat on the swing seat that had been left by the previous owners in the small back garden at the back of their apartment. Next door, somebodies dog was yapping but apart from that, Tate couldn’t fault the day at all. He was actually glad his brother had brought his a stupid bracelet that allowed him to go out in the daylight. He took a drag of his cigarette and watched as the smoke made twirls before disappearing in to the air. He was waiting to meet up with a girl he had recently met at a party one of his friends had invited him to. He’d first noticed her because of the scent she gave off, it was ghastly but apart from that, he could also smell the weed. Yes, she smoked weed too. Tate hadn’t been in Somber too long and although he had met quite a few people and made a few friends, none of them touched the stuff. If they had a nickel for every time he called the “Boring gits” they’d be millionaires by now. So at the party, it was more than a relief to find that not everyone in the little town was boring. He kicked his legs out idly as he swung back and forth, squinting up at the house to see if he could see Max inside. Max had been spending a lot of time at work lately so Tate had been getting very bored sitting around the house and trying to stay out of trouble. Especially after the other night. He could see his older brother dossing around in his room and grinned up at him with a wave. It was returned with a slight nod of the head before max turned away and disappeared again. Pulling a face, Tate stopped the swing and climbed to his feet. Clearly his brother was still pissed off with him. Although the younger of the two was meant to be grounded and staying in house arrest, he made his way across the small garden to the porch and quietly opened the outer door. Taking his skateboard, he closed the door again and carefully opened the gate to the front drive. It creaked quite loudly and he pulled another funny face before leaving it open and running down the path to the road. As soon as the tarmac was beneath his feet, the skateboard was too. It felt nice to feel the breeze against his skin after spending the last few days housebound, mostly spent in his room on his Xbox, and as he reached the hill that sloped down to the forest, his speed quickened slightly. He didn’t see the point in taking care anymore, he was dead. What was the worst that could happen? As he only lived ten minutes away, it didn’t take him long at all before he spotted the young werewolf perched against the tree. As he approached her, he made sure he tread quietly so she couldn't hear him and see if he could make her jump. Just a few feet away from her though she glanced up making Tate pout and whine in dissapointment. “You weren’t meant to see me. What, do you have that ultra-sounding thing or whatever it is…. You know... that really good hearing thing like dogs… I mean, like wolves do?” He stared at her in awe as he took a pew beside her and pulled his money and cigarettes from his pocket. “Oh yeah, and how much do I owe you for coming all the way out here just to treat me?” He added with a small smirk and a wink.

Lily started to feel the haze of her spliff take over. With a bright smile on her face, she giggled before she had even noticed the vampire in front of her. Her mind was miles away thinking about some food which probably would have been a good idea to bring with her. Taking another puff, Lily heard the somewhat muted voice of the vampire. She smiled at him, still slightly giggly.
Nah man, didn’t see ya, was miles off. Yeah but the weed tends to mute it out a bit for me. It helps. With another smile she took another pull and then exhaled. Nothing yet, you gotta sample before you buy like…. Cause I’m so nice and stuff Passing the joint with a few drags left in it to the vampire, Lily began staring off at the sky above her. Eyes on some funnily shaped clouds, Lily laughed and then looked back to the sampling vampire.
So I didn’t get your name the other day, what’s it then? She said enjoying the feeling of the haze. I’m Lily, by the way While wondering how much the vampire was going to need, she took the half baggy and some papers out from her bag and begun rolling herself another. Well actually maybe you could be my personal slave for weed? It could work.
After a few minutes of fumbling with her joint, Lily was done with it and slowly searched through her bag for her lighter. A few hazed moments later, she found it in her pocket and put the end to her mouth. Lighting the joint, she inhaled and exhaled with a moderate pace before smiling lightly again. With her mind drifting again, Lily thought about what she would probably be doing for the rest of the day. She would most likely head into town for some chow, before heading home for the party, she had been invited to. She would most likely end up selling some more, but then again, money was money. Maybe she could get the vampire to go with her, so she wouldn’t have to be around some annoying middle-teens wanting more and more even though they’d probably not be able to handle it.

Tate liked how the young girl thought. For a werewolf she wasn’t half bad. She certainly seemed to have more sense than most of the silly mutts he had ever met. His smiled widened at her giggling, knowing full well he was a chronic giggler too when he started smoking. It was strange though, although drink seemed to have less effect on him, weed still caught him out every time. He guessed it had something to do with the fact that alcohol spread through your body and bloodstream whereas weed just went to your mind. Either way, he was thankful he could still smoke and feel the same effects. In ways, t helped him stay connected to the real world and helped him feel slightly more human.
He happily took the joint from the brunette’s fingers, nodding his head in appreciation and didn’t waste any time in placing it to his lips. He took a long drag, held it in, then watched as the smoke left his lips and disappeared in a cloud in to the air. He smiled as he felt it immediately sooth him. He leant back against the tree beside Lily and took another drag as he heard his name being asked. Quickly exhaling, he turned to the young girl and extended his hand out to shake as though meeting her for the first time again.
“Tate. And your name is Lily. I remembered from the party, I haven’t been stalking you, don’t worry.â€
He gave her a jokey grin and nudged her playfully with his shoulder before going back to the joint. He barely noticed her pull the small baggy out and start making another one of the magic cigarettes. Her question caught him slightly of guard and he actually was slightly confused by what she meant about being a slave for weed. Looking at her with utter confusion, his lips twitched at the side as he tried not to giggle.
“You mean me? Be a slave? What?â€
He couldn’t help but giggle now though in some ways he figured it could work too. He forced himself to stop giggling for a moment to attempt a serious business look.
“Ok, so what would this ‘being a slave’ consist of? I wouldn’t have to do anything stupid would I? Coz I’m not standing on one foot singing I’m a little teapot and making all the right actions… Don’t ask… But it could work. It depends what you have in mind?â€
