The Order of Equilibrium is a very hierarchical society. You're assigned rank and a task based on your skills and advancing is based solely on merits.
Intern/Junior Member:
When you first join the order, you aren't trusted with all the secrets or the way of the Order. You'll be paired up with a full member and trained to be able to work efficiently alongside other members. This is also a way to make sure you know what you're getting into before it's too late. If after a time you find that the way or the Order is not for you, they have witches capable of wiping all knowledge of the Order's existence from your mind before you're free to go. So, for safety reasons, a Junior member isn't allowed to know of the archives, much less visit them.
Regular Member:
There are several positions within the system that share the same ranks and privileges. Regular members all have access to the same things within the Order, but they are bound by contracts to follow orders from their superiors. There is an age restriction to becoming a regular member. You must be at least twenty to gain this rank, as you need to understand what the term 'for life' means before taking your vows.
Agent:
Members who belong to this group are good at blending in when they go places. Their job is to observe and report back to the Order everything that they see that might be of importance. They are tasked to find out about people's abilities to keep the records up to date, which occasionally includes finding new family members the archivists can add to the family trees. When a clean up is ordered, Agents are sent to do the job, often accompanied by a senior agent. Their skills and purposes are very individual.
Requirements: Basic combat skills as a precaution. Good observational skills, good at blending in, it is preferably to know more than one language as you're likely to be sent anywhere you are qualified to go.
Security:
As a security detail needs to be inconspicuous. It's a privilege to be picked for security detail as it means the Order trusts you with the lives of other members when needed. Every security agent is put through extensive training to learn how best to protect a fellow member without giving away to anyone else that they are security. Unlike human security guards, the gifted security of the Order is usually very average both in height and build to not be suspicious and they tend to have abilities that make them fit for security. Regular security guards usually guard regular members and on rare occasions they are trusted with the lives of a senior member (if the security in question has proven themselves).
Requirements: Cannot be afraid of a fight and has to have had extensive training in the area. A good eye for sticky situations and how to avoid them is preferred. Must also be good at blending in. Training only includes concealed weapons and whatever can be found in the surroundings.
Librarian:
A Librarian's work is different than that of most librarians. For one, there must always be a librarian in the archives of every Quarters around the world. The Librarian is tasked with knowing the way around the archives. Whatever another member with access to the basement archives need, the librarian has to know where to find. Their job is to organize the archives, bring any suggestion to updates to their superior and make sure no one gets lost in the maze-like facility.
Requirements: A fondness for books. Above average intelligence. Patience. Sense of direction. Must be good at giving advice. The best librarians always seem to know what their fellow members need the moment they step into the archives, so some form of psychic ability is preferable.
Senior Members:
Senior members have access to all parts of the archives and serve as liaisons between the council and the other members of the Order. They are the only ones with direct access to the Junior Council members.
Senior Agent:
Senior Agents have more responsibilities than regular agents. In addition to having to be good at blending in and observing people, they are responsible for recruitment. They are charged with sending the other Agents out on missions and based on that information they have to figure out who would be a good match for the Order and what course of action to take next. Their skills are individual, but their purpose is to always to do what is best for the Order. There is always one Senior Agent in charge at every safe house that also has the most contact with the Junior Council members out of the group.
Requirements: To be bumped up from a regular Agent to a Senior Agent, the agent must have proven themselves thoroughly. A potential for leadership must be shown as Senior Agents are responsible for the agents below their rank. They must be able to assess the dangers of a situation before sending people in.
Security:
Once a security operative is bumped up to a Senior member, they are charged with protecting members of the council as well as agents the same rank. They are trusted by everyone and work hard to maintain not only their skills but the security of the order.
Requirements: Same requirements as regular security. Can only be promoted on orders from the Council itself.
Archivist:
Unlike the librarians, an Archivist is allowed to add or remove information from the vault. They also grant or remove a member's right to visit the archives. Without an archivist's approval, no member is allow into the archives.
Requirements: Above average intelligence. Patience. Sense of direction. Like the Librarians, an archivist must know their way around the archives, though they don't deal so much with other members as far as helping with information goes.
