Powers: Marcus forms bonds with people. It's a monogamous, two-way connection that allows him to always know where the person whom is is connected to is as long as they are on the same continent. He is also able to retrieve people's memories through their blood if he chooses to do so.

He honestly doesn't remember all the details about his human life anymore, so he doesn't remember his parents' names. He doesn't even remember the name of his maker as she died so long ago.

Personality:
Marcus is very controlling, a quality he has passed onto both of his fledgelings by his treatment of them. He needs to be in charge of things to make sure they happen according to his plans and standards. He can be quite ruthless in order to gain control of a setting if he feels he needs to. He has learned to let go of his control when he trusts people are able to handle the tasks assigned to them. He never gives anyone a task he doesn't believe they can handle.

It takes a lot to win his affections though he doesn't let go easily once you have.

History:

Marcus was born in 591 BC. He was turned in his prime years by a lonely lady. She made him a few siblings as well, they were happy for a while, until they were all killed. Marcus somehow escaped and lived alone for a long time. He had many lovers over the years, none of which he turned. He was still young and didn't want to condemn anyone to the lonely life he was now living. He spent his years serving in various armies, which was how he met Cleopatra. For a moment he wanted nothing more than to turn her, but when she refused he mourned her after her suicide and he was alone again.

Until he met Talbot. Talbot was newborn vampire, fighting alongside him in the Roman armies. They quickly became best friends and later lovers. Marcus trusted the vampire with his life and the feeling was mutual. They kept each other safe and when they finally parted ways, it wasn't until Talbot had introduced him to a lovely young girl in a pleasure house in Antioch.

The girl was barely a woman when he first saw her. He'd rent her out for days at a time until he learned why she was selling her body. Determined to get out of there, it didn't take long for her to fall for the man and accept him when he bought her free. He would teach her, both to read and write as well as the self control she would need once he turned her. He used her as a pet, teaching her how to behave, finding that she enjoyed being punished just as much as he enjoyed exercising his power over her. Eventually she was ready though and he turned her.

They stuck together, even when they couldn't stand each other and he grew to depend on her for social gathering, often presenting her as his loving wife. They often went together to council meetings for the vampires of the places they were staying and she proved to be a useful ally and quite the strategist actually. It seemed he'd taught her well, because Talbot soon proved to be jealous that his newest fledgeling James didn't quite measure up to the girl he'd introduced Marcus to. So Marcus promised to wed Arya to him when he found someone new to keep at his side. The council recognized that Arya could speak for Marcus when he wasn't present and if she were to marry James, Talbot would gain her loyalty as well, making sure they weren't pit against one another.

Not long after he turned Damien, he held up his end of the bargain with Talbot and made Arya marry the English lord. He didn't see her much after that, only when she needed him for something as for some reason they always seemed to know where the other one was. Until she crossed over to the new world. He knew she was there, but he didn't know where. It was different with Damien, he had no idea where the boy was when he wasn't by his side. He tried for the longest time to make the boy as useful as his sister had been, but he'd known freedom before he was turned and it proved to be too hard not to just kill the boy when he was being spiteful so Marcus left.

He travelled for a bit, caught up with Talbot again and ran into his newest fledgeling Alice. The pair of them his it off and had an affair right under his friend's nose. It didn't last very long, but they got to know each other a little too well and walked away with quite a few secrets about the other under their belts. Of course, Talbot hated him for taking Alice away from him. Even if it was only for a short time, Alice could never quite decide who she favored the most after that.

Traveling to the new world himself, Marcus ran into a rather fascinating witch, Antonette. It didn't take long for him to realize her usefulness and he convinced her to come work for him. He knew where Arya was again as well and the two women were attached at the hip for a while. He never actually tried anything with the witch, but she was the perfect excuse to resume his strange relationship with Arya and together they built the foundations for their company.
