Valerie was pleased she'd managed to make him stumble, even if he blocked her punch like that. His next move made her roll around on the ground for a bit before she got back to her feet and narrowed her eyes at the werewolf. At least he'd given her something real to work with as far as showing him how her abilities worked. While before she'd had to just draw on what she'd been taught, she now brushed herself off before she moved at him in exactly the same manner.
She made a slight difference to the move though, she stopped herself right before her leg would have made an impact on Jack. She lowered her leg again and looked at Jack with a slight smirk. So far she hadn't lost her temper even once, so if all else failed, she sure had proved that she wouldn't lose it with the wolf within her if she got angered.

He waited for her and smirked when she moved like e did an was going to prepare himself to block but she was very fast and looked down at her foot. He just smirked back at her."Well that is some ability you got and you have alot of self control.....welcome to the pack." He said and chuckled some. "You want a drink or something, you can stay here if you like and this is where we met up and some of the pack members come here after the full moon run." He informed her of the log cabins many uses. He picked up his disagrees jacket and unlocked the door before heading inside.
There were pictures of his infant and now toddler daughter hanging on the wall and some on the table in picture frames. There was even a picture of him and a pretty red headed woman holding a red headed baby who was covered with cake hanging on the Far East wall in the living room it was the biggest picture there. He also had pictures of him and a rather handsom but incredibly young looking witch who was wrapped around the alpha and kissing his cheek.

Valerie couldn't help but thank Jack when he complimented her not only on her abilities, but also her self control as well as welcome her to the pack. "I suppose since I didn't inherit much from my dad's side of the family, nature decided to be gracious in other ways. And I had great teachers." It was true that nature acted up in weird ways at times though as both she and her brother had inherited the werewolf gene from their mother, her sister had not and she was on her way to become a witch within the order, doing completely different work than her siblings. She was also much more fragile, but maybe that was because she lacked their animal instincts at times.
Nodding slightly at the offer, Valerie would gladly accept a drink. She picked up her gloves, her knife and the jacket again before she went with Jack inside. There was a strange scent lingering in the cabin, but she decided not to comment on it. Instead she looked at the pictures. She just couldn't help herself as the man obviously loved his daughter and she was just the cutest thing in the whole world. The woman in the picture was beautiful as well, but from the pictures of Jack and some guy, she figured the redhead was just a friend.
"She's lucky to have such a devoted father," she said absentmindedly, though perfectly honest. Just seeing how he was in the pictures of him and the little girl, it reminded her of her own father and her sister. The man loved all his children, that much was clear, it was also obvious he understood the witch better than the other two.
"The witch who built this for you did a good job, it's beautiful in here," she said to bring her thoughts to something less awkward and because it was true.

He decided to drink healthy and pulled out a gallon of green tea. "What would you like to drink?" He asked and did smile at her comment of hik being a devoted father. He hoped that he was being devoted towards his daughter. At the moment it was just him primarily raising her since Amanda was still getting her life back on track."Thank you....me and her mother aren't together, that's her in the picture." He pointed out. Kailah looke more like Amanda but she did share some similar qualities with Jack at least.
He poured some tea and took a swig of it."Thank you." He said

At his question, Valerie shrugged. "Whatever you have to offer," she replied with a slight smile and continued to look at the photos. She knew Jack probably wouldn't want her to look further into the matter of his family when she was on her own, but they had lineages to trace after all and in order to properly add his daughter to the archives, she needed to know more about the mother. She could never ask Jack or let him know, and she would never do anything to endanger either of them. Who said she couldn't accidentally bump into the woman though and learn more about her that way?
"Well, sometimes not being together is best for the child in question. Better to be separate and on good terms than together and miserable my mother always said, even if my parents are still together." As far as she knew, her parents were happy together, but they also worked a lot separately and had space so they wouldn't crowd one another. Pointing to the male in one of the photos, Valerie couldn't help but make a remark: "I can see why you aren't together with the woman; the pair of you seem really happy together." She didn't mean anything by it, it was just the truth. He wouldn't have pictures of the pair of them together if they didn't mean something.
"Family is a funny thing at times. My brother and I take after our mother as far as being wolves go, but my sister takes after dad. She's the little witch in the family, not a sliver of wolf in her at all." It had always confounded her how her little sister inherited their father's magic and not their mother's wolf-gene while the other two children were wolves without a trace of magic.

He knew that if him and Amanda stayed together and tried to work it out that they would be at each others throats all the time and that wasnt going to be good for Kailah in the slightest. Besides he still loved Mason and wanted to be with the witch. He looked to Valerie at her comment on the picture of mapson and him."Yeah I love him deeply." He said and gave the wolf a smile and got her some green tea."Here we have alcohol if you don't want that." He said and handed her the drink.
"Kailah takes more after me." He admitted and sat down.

It was fascinating how people would live at times. How families thrived with distance, while others had to be together at all times. It was good that Jack had someone. Maybe that was why she wasn't afraid to be around him at all; he was a father and he loved someone outside of the pack, both were qualities that made a man softer, unless someone made an attempt on a loved one. She wouldn't want to get between whomever decided to try anything with either the child or the young man and Jack.
"Green tea's just fine, thanks," she smiled and accepted the drink. She'd had her alcohol for the night earlier when she'd had her beer. She didn't really drink that often, mostly because she was working a lot and couldn't keep her focus on being inconspicuous to possible attackers while being intoxicated. Besides, she didn't like to lose control.
"Well, best of luck when she gets a little older, she might not be too happy when she understands what you're doing every full moon until she's able to go out with you," she said with a chuckle. She'd hated being stuck inside while her mom was out during the full moon and her brother was even worse with both her and their mother going outside. Pulling out a pack of smokes from her pocket, her knife fell out as well and she was quick to pick it up and place it back in her pocket. The last thing she wanted was any trouble because she couldn't keep her items in her pockets. "Do you mind?" She asked, holding up her pack of smokes. She definitely needed to bathe when she got home as she had dirt smudged across her cheek. She knew her clothes were dirty from being thrown to the ground like that as well, so she didn't really sit down.

There hasn't been anyone out there that as tried anything web it came to mason or his daughter. Jack was a really nice person who cared for those around him, but he wouldn't hesitate for a moment to kill anyone who put his daughters life in danger. When Mason had screamed at his daughter, he wanted to choke the witch out and even hit him. Sure e felt bad for laying his hand on the man he loved. But at the same time his daughter meant everything to him and she would always come first.
He looked to Valerie and had a feeling that she was right on that."More likely." He said and leaned his head back and put his sink on a coffee table.
"No go ahead." He said and gave Valerie a small smile and turned the TV on."So where are you from exactly and what made you want to come out here to Somer Falls its not like the town is popular or big." He said.

When she was given the go ahead for the cigarettes, she got her lighter out of her other pocket and fished out a cigarette. Placing it between her lips, she lit it up and put away her pack and lighter again. After inhaling, she took a moment to think about how best to answer Jack's question before she exhaled again.
"Bitter Springs wasn't my choice really. My latest client has some business in town, I'm sure you'll meet her sooner or later. She has a tendency to get involved in other people's business," she was taking her time though, both with her cigarette and answering Jack's question. She couldn't really divulge too much information either, at the same time she wasn't going to lie to Jack. "I don't know where exactly I'm from, we've moved a lot. Most recently though, my family's been settled down just outside of Charlottesville, so it's not that far away really."
The werewolf had done well as far as not telling Jack too many details went. There was no point in telling someone she'd moved a lot, and not just within the states. First place she really remembered living was the London Quarters, but luckily her parents had kept her from adopting a British accent as it would be hard to explain. Just as she finished up her cigarette though, she picked up on someone approaching, singing softly while a little girl was fussing.
Amanda had picked Kailah up from her parents as the girl wouldn't go to sleep or anything. She was just fussing, screaming out whenever they tried to put her to bed. Apparently she missed her 'dada' and wouldn't sleep without him so the witch had offered to take her to Jack. Opening the door to the cabin, she stopped the moment she saw the stranger. "She can't be here anymore Jack," she said coldly and shielded her daughter from the stranger. She knew she should've called, but she figured she better get her daughter to Jack as fast as safely possible before her parents freaked out and called Dahlia or something.
The witch resumed her attempts at trying to calm the fussing toddler in her arms and eventually she gave up and handed her to Jack. "She's been screaming for you for hours and she's running a temperature, I think she's teething again," she said, glad that the child seemed to fuss less once she was with her dad again. After all, he was much more familiar to the toddler. Turning to the stranger, she eyed her suspiciously when she noticed how the wolf was staring at her. Almost as if she was studying her for some reason.

Jack only nodded and started to flip through the channels when he heard a familiar fussing toddler. He blinked and stood up when Mansa came in and almost immediately went into mommy protection mode. He frowned at what Amanda said about his disgusted can't come here anymore."Thats not something that you can just decide without reason." He replied back and personally didnt want to get into it with Amanda here. He took Kailah and the child started to calm down now and he held her against his chest and started to him a soft lullaby to her. Kailah finally started to get sleepy and grabbed her favorite blanket and placed it over her.
"I have some stuff in the cabinet for her, it's in a red bottle." He told Amanda and noticed the suspecious look that the witch was giving Valerie and wasnt sure why Amanda was being so hostile towards his new member.

Amanda knew she had no business trying to kick the stranger out of the cabin, but if Kailah was going to be there she didn't trust the other wolf to be there. After all, she knew nothing about the stranger yet. "She's a stranger and a wolf, that's reason enough," she replied, but soften slightly when her daughter was safely in Jack's arms and stopped fussing as much. She still couldn't safely encounter her parents without them trying to lecture her, so she really should know better than to let it out on Jack. It was nothing he could do about it.
Going to look for the red bottle like Jack had said, she used the time when the wolves couldn't see her face to work on calming down again. She still wouldn't trust the other wolf just because Jack seemed so overly comfortable around her though, but she wouldn't try to throw her out again either.
Valerie was surprised when the witch was all hostile like that, but after studying her for a moment it made sense. She didn't trust strangers, and with a daughter like that in the mix she could understand why. Sadly she had no choice but to tell Alice about the werewitch though. She'd hate to betray Jack's trust so quickly, but the girl would be in grave danger if people realized the truth and the Order had always looked out for people like her. Heck, they probably had a werewitch from the original uprising living among them somewhere.
"Look, I don't want any trouble, if your witch doesn't want me here I can leave," she told Jack, not wanting to overstay any welcomes or anything. And here she'd grown up thinking mother wolves were bad when it came to protecting their children. "If Jack wants you here, you can stay," Amanda muttered sullenly and handed the bottle over to the alpha. She'd just keep her distance from the wolf until she learned to trust her. Jack knew how Amanda felt about the pack being around their daughter, but she wouldn't push him tonight. She was already in danger of being sucked dry of anything that could cause trouble as it was, she didn't need to add fuel to the fire.

He had to wake Kailah up who just started to fuss some again and he gave her some medicine to help with her fever and teething problem. Once he gave her the medicine she went back to sleep. He looked at Amanda and Valerie before turning his attention to Kailah."Call me next time and ill ask whoever is here to leave." He told Amanda and finally Kailah slept like a log and he decided to just stay here for the night. He had a room set up for Kailah when he decided to stay at the cabin with her there plus she was asleep finally and did want to wake her up.
He put Kailah down in her room and went back to the kitchen."Do you want anything to drink Amanda?" He asked

It wasn't fun for Amanda to see her little girl be so inconsolable when it came to anyone else than Jack. It was good that at least Jack could comfort her when she was upset like that. "I will, but I didn't want my parents going mental if I didn't bring her straight here. Maybe you could just let them know she's here?" She said quietly, not wanting her parents to think she'd done anything bad again. She was tired of the scrutiny, she really hadn't messed up in a long time so maybe it was time to cut her some slack?
Valerie was uncomfortable with the whole situation, so she took her drink with her to the far corner and ignored what the parents were doing. She would leave sooner rather than later, but she would want to finish her drink and thank Jack before she left. Besides the fact that it was obvious the witch wasn't too pleased with her being there, she had to report back to her seniors that there was a werewitch in the small town of Bitter Springs. Now they didn't just have clean up to do in town, they had some more observation to do as well.
"I'm good, thanks Jack. I'll be on my way again," she said and sighed slightly. She needed to work some magic on her own, to get away from it all for a short time. After all, she'd learned a few techniques to calm down completely and she needed to put it to good use now. Get all that annoyance with her parents out of her system naturally rather than through Casey.
Valerie turned back to the parents and sighed. Pulling a piece of paper out of her pocket and looked around for a pen. When she found one, she scribbled down her phone number and handed the paper to Jack. "You can reach me here, I don't want to impose further." She said and offered the witch a slight smile on her way to the door. "Nice to meet you," she offered the redhead on her way out.
Amanda felt bad that she'd made Jack's guest leave like that, but she didn't want to have wolves around Kailah more than what was absolutely necessary. "Cute girl, who was she?" Just because she'd been rude about it all, didn't meant she couldn't offer some interest into what she'd been doing there in the first place. "Mom really didn't know what else to do but to get her directly to you, I know it was supposed to be your night off..."

He would let Amandas parents know about Kailah's e didnt want them to think that Amanda had done something or didnt keep her word. He could tell that Valerie didnt feel comfortable right now with the whole situation and he felt kinda bad that she didnt feel welcomed now because of Amanda. He only took the piece of paper from the wolf and nodded as she left and looked to the witch."My new pack member I was showing her the ropes really." He said and ran a hand through his hair.
"It's fine I missed Kailah anyway." He said and smiled some.

So Jack had gotten a new pack member? "She just move here or something? Can't say I've seen her around here before..." She really should stop digging into people's pasts like that, but she needed to know a few things about the wolves before she could trust them around Kailah. So far, she only trusted Hunter and that was mostly because he'd helped her when she'd needed help.
"She really wouldn't go down no matter what they did, she's grown very fond of saying 'dada' when she's upset so I'm glad you don't mind," she said with a smile. It must be a wolf thing, how she seemed to calm down the moment she was close to her father.
