Finnley had been trying to settle into town for the most part. He knew he had some down time before actually having to go through classes and things, but that didn't mean he wouldn't still be practicing for Soccer and kickboxing matches. Currently he was running about the shopping center buying what he needed for practice. this entailed visiting the few sports shops for gear and clothes. He entered each shop with a cheery smile, trying to be careful with volume control when he noticed someone said hello to him. Even without his hearing he could tell when people were a bit stunned he had such a thick accent. He managed to find most of what he needed, only having to hunt down some cleats, but first was lunch. Now Finnley wasn't the pickiest of eaters, but he wasn't one to just stuff his face full of fast food. He managed to find something to his liking before sitting in the food court. He was glad he had stored most of the gear he bought in the car before choosing to scope out the locals some while he dined. He was so curious of everyone around him, unable to help giving a small smile or wave when he caught people staring. He was just having a good day. Well, as long as no one tried to actually talk to him. He could handle it sure, but he wouldn't be able to do much with answering if he couldn't see their mouths moving. Outfit

(Outfit like the picture) Amelita really hadn't been out much since she'd moved in with Damien instead of living with Arya and Marcus. She didn't understand why she'd had to move, especially since she'd liked it with the other two, but she'd finally settled in some at Damien's. All she needed now was some new clothes really, she did intend to go back to school the next fall, despite never actually graduating high school because of her change. Maybe there was something Damien could do about that, she didn't have to actually move to the dorms, but she'd like to get some sort of a social life again now that she didn't want to jump on anything with a pulse. So far, minus the incident with the pizza guy (and in her opinion that was mostly Juliette's fault), she hadn't really hurt anyone, so she didn't feel uncomfortable about going to the mall for once now. She did end up buying a new shirt and a pair of jeans before she decided she needed to eat something in order to be able to really continue her shopping safely. Entering the food court, she wound up getting some really greasy fries, before she brought them and her bag of clothes over to find a table. There really weren't any free tables by the time she arrived and she found up in front of a really cute, blonde guy's table, asking if the seat across from him was taken.

Finnley seemed off in his own little world for a moment, having not really been paying much attention to things in front of him. He had ended up putting his focus on his food before him. It took him a moment to realize that someone was standing in front of him, making him blink for a moment. He gave a smile, having not heard her question at all. He'd be polite though and at least say something. "hello there. Name's Finnley. Can I help ya with something?" He was a tiny bit loud but that wasn't what distracted most people. It was more the combination of his accent and how some of his words didn't sound too right due to the fact that he couldn't hear himself. He was nice about it though to say the least.

Gale seemed a little confused when it first seemed like the boy didn't hear her question, then looked up to speak to her. She didn't really notice that he was being a bit loud, or that his words sounded kind of funny, she was more hung up on his accent really. It made it very clear that he wasn't from around town and she got curious.
"Friends call me Gale, and I was wondering if this seat was taken?" she said, gesturing to the empty chair in front of her. Normally, she would just avoid getting close to people as she didn't really need company, but she was feeling chatty today.
It seemed like ever since she'd come to terms with the fact that she couldn't be with Damien and the necromancer had left town, she had returned to her usual bubbly self, and that required someone to chat with. She couldn't very well just let the newcomer sit by himself and not feel included, now could she?

Finnley made sure to watch her lips as she spoke, understanding she needed somewhere to sit. he gave a nod, seeming to smile a bit more now. This would be his start to making a new friend out here in some sense. He caught that her name was Gale, but wasn't sure if he would pronounce it right so as he spoke did his best to avoid mentioning her name. "Not at all. Take a seat if ya like." He was trying to be nice about it all, still feeling rather confident that he was as normal as can be. He was being careful to make sure to keep a sharp eye on Gale now just in case she said something to him. Couldn't finish lunch and talk to her if she really wanted to make conversation.

Gale smiled brightly at Finnley when he said she could sit. She could probably have compelled someone to give up their seat so she'd have a table of her own, but that had seemed rather rude and she wasn't one to abuse her new powers. She was too young to even begin to comprehend the whole 'basically immortal' thing, so she'd decided to try and live as normal as possible despite her new family.
"Where are you from, originally?" she asked before she ate a handful of her fries. She'd never been one to enjoy junk food before, but now it seemed that it was the food that best kept her urges under control. Whenever she was outside of the house and she felt even the slightest tinge of thirst, she stuffed her face with greasy food and her hunger disappeared again until she was home and able to feed. It didn't even occur to her that Finnley was watching her lips while she was speaking, she really wasn't as perceptive of others as she ought to be quite yet.

Finnley watched, trying not to seem too focused on her lips as Gale spoke. He hadnt heard that question yet in this town so he couldn't help to chuckle. He sat back in his chair some, still seeming all smiles. "I'm from Ireland, little town outside Dublin. My accent still that thick?" His words grew a little louder, a sign he was starting to get a bit more comfortable. He had questions of his own, but not too sure he should ask. He ended up just asking anyway. ]"You go to college out here by chance? I wanted to know if ya knew how the soccer team was like." Soccer was the focus of his life after all. Sure it was difficult to get cues with his hearing gone, but he still enjoyed a good game. His life revolved around it when his mom didn't make him sit a game out for doctor appointments. He still got fed up with those to this day. He was just fine being deaf, but seems no one could hear him on that one.

Junk food had never really tasted so good before, despite the fact that she didn't need actual food to survive. "It's not that bad actually," she replied to the accent question, feeling silly now that she'd asked. It did make her more alert to what was going on around her though that she'd asked one of the things that had been on her mind. Maybe she should actually try interacting with humans more often outside of the pets Damien kept around for food. Something about feeding from someone and trying to make friends of them just didn't sit right with Gale.
"I didn't actually graduate high school yet, I missed too many classes, so I don't know about the soccer team. I was always more interested in their archery team than the other sports anyway I'm afraid." Amelita didn't even know if she could still play other sports with humans yet, she had just finally gotten her instincts under control. Her strength and speed was another matter entirely as she didn't know the limits to her new powers yet.
It sounded silly really that she hadn't finished school because of absences, but hopefully he wouldn't make a big deal out of it. "On the bright side, if the soccer team sucks, I can always teach you to shoot," she chuckled, actually missing that part of her former life as she hadn't really picked up her bow since she turned.

Finnley just chuckled at the answer on his accent, glad it wasn't too bad. He knew he could be hard to understand at times for a combination of the accent and how he couldn't always say things right, but he tried. He was a bit surprised she was stuck in high school still, though he lost a word here or there, he still got the gist of it. He couldn't help to ask about the missed days though, knowing he had missed a fair share of days for doctor appointments. "Ya couldn't even get waivers? Coulda faked some doctor appointments or somethin'" He listened to what she did know of the team before seeming to light up about her willing to practice with him. He always enjoyed any kind of play after all. He couldn't help to laugh a bit too loud at the comment on the team possibly sucking. He noticed he got a few glances at that and quickly tried to quiet down, giving a softer chuckle and out of habit signed sorry. "sorry about that, can't hear so I get a bit loud sometimes. So you been a local for how long?" He didn't care that he just outed his hearing issues, he just acted like it was no big deal, and to Finnley it wasn't.

Despite having lost so many classes due to her change, Amelita hadn't really missed school until now. Something had made her realize she wanted to get back to school and learn more, as a productive way of spending her time rather than doing nothing with her life. Sure, she still enjoyed mixing music together, but her style had changed as she was able to pick up on the finer nuances of sounds now compared to earlier.
"I sort of dropped everything for a while, it's been a rough couple of months really. I do intend to pick up where I left off though, now that everything's back on track." There had been no point trying to fake doctor's appointments when she hadn't been allowed out of the house for months. Of course, she could ask Arya or Marcus to compel someone to let her take her final exams and claim she'd been homeschooled for the past few months, that certainly would be close enough to any truth she knew.
The laughter was a bit distracting, but when she learned he couldn't hear and thus got a bit loud at times, Amelita smiled at him. "It's impressive, I never would've guessed if you hadn't said something. I lived in the dorms up at the high school while I was enrolled, but the past few months I've been living with extended family. I grew up just outside of town though, so I guess I've been a local my whole life." It was true that she never would've guessed about his hearing, but that explained why it had seemed like he'd ignored her the first time she'd asked if the seat was taken.

Finnley frowned at hearing it had been a rough few months for Gale. Sure it was much different than what he had gone through more likely, but he still couldn't help to want to make things better. He was trying to keep up with what she was saying, still doing rather well with it as he gave a rather goofy grin. H liked that it was hard to tell and hoped it stayed that way for as long as possible. "Well I still got a lot of adjusting to do around here. Been moving all over the U.S. for about a year now. Mum keeps trying to get me doctors and whatnot. Think you could show me around sometime?" He took a couple more bites of his food, trying to finish it off quickly so as he could focus on lip reading again. He had managed pretty well so far.

Amelita couldn't exactly tell Finnley why the past few months had been rough, as that would break some rule or another of revealing what she was to an outsider with seemingly no prior knowledge of the supernatural. It was just as well maybe too, not a lot of her former friends from the high school had really talked much to her since she was turned, so why should a complete stranger be any more understanding.
She just couldn't help but chuckle at the doctor's thing. "Trying to fix your hearing? But I'll gladly show you around anyhow," she said with a smile before she ate the rest of her fries. She sort of wished she'd thought to get something to drink though and excused herself for a moment before she was back with one of those plastic cups filled with coke. She hadn't really bothered getting a lid of a straw though as she hadn't really filled it all the way up either, she just wanted some of the sugar.
"Small town life takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of where everything is, it'll be easy." Amelita couldn't help to smile slightly though as Bitter Springs in particular would take some getting used to. Sooner or later, Finnley would most likely become aware that the world wasn't as black and white as he'd thought and that there were people like her living amongst the unsuspecting humans all around the world really. This town just seemed to have a higher supernatural population than most small towns.

Finnley gave another goofy grin while gesturing to his ears at he chuckle. His mom seemed so dead set on fixing his hearing for years, one of the few things they fought about really. He shook those memories though as he read her lips and spoke up himself. "pretty much. And that be great if ya could show me around here." He watched her walk off to go get something to drink, choosing then to finish up the last of his own food. He was quick to throw away any trash he had left while keeping a water bottle on him. He grinned at Gale saying small town life took getting used to, used to small towns since he grew up in one for the most part. "Small towns are fine with me, it's the big cities that freak me out more than anything. So you still got shopping to do or can ya show me around a bit now?" He hoped he wasn't being too rude with that question, he was just getting tired of having to stay still. It could be seen it was becoming an issue as he started to bounce his leg some, shifting the table slightly in his want to start moving.

Gale would be happy to show the newcomer around. It gave her something useful to do and it got her out of the house for long enough to learn to socialize again. So far she'd been doing rather good actually. "With time, I think you'll find Bitter Springs a bit different from other towns," she said with a chuckle and decided right then and there that she was done shopping for the day.
Not really watching what she was doing for a moment, she accidentally pushed her cup over the edge of the table and didn't think twice before she'd stopped it midair, without really spilling all of its contents. She hadn't even realized she'd moved faster than humanly possible in order to pick it up at first. "I'm good to go really, I got what I wanted," she said when she was facing Finnley again, acting like everything was perfectly normal, which to her they were.

Finnley couldn't help to give a bit of a curious look at the comment on this town being a bit different than most. He figured it was just something with how all small towns have little differences and nothing major. He saw her hand hit the cup and was going to try and save some of it, but before he could even blink she had caught the cup and salvaged much more of the contents than he could have. He just stared for a moment blinking in confusion. He wasn't even looking at what Gsle could be saying to him as he was still trying to process what he just saw with his own two eyes. "um...how did you just...maybe my vision is going too but how did you just catch that...that isn't humanly possible." He seemed to go a bit still then, not sure what to think of what he saw. Maybe he was starting to lose his sight now if he just saw that. Moving that fast wasn't possible, was it?
